IAN MCINTYRE'S TEAPOT ADVENTURES PHOTOGRAPHED FOR CRAFTS MAGAZINE

The September/October issue of Crafts magazine featured a major feature on ceramic designer Ian McIntyre's re-engineering of the British classic Brown Betty teapot.

He has been collaborating with Stoke-on-Trent-based manufacturer Cauldon Ceramics to refine the iconic teapot. His design has recently been unveiled at the prestigious British Ceramics Biennial.

I was commissioned to photograph Ian (above) and also document manufacturing taking place at Cauldon Ceramics. While there was plenty of lovely diffuse top light for taking portraits, the main challenge was red clay dust, which coats every surface, making it difficult to change lenses.

You can see a selection of images from the shoot here.
